He eventually signed to Interscope Records and began to make a successful commercial climb. Following this, Yelawolf returned to the underground rap scene, using the Internet to distribute his music and build a fan base. He signed to them in 2007 and recorded an album, but after releasing only one single on the label, he was dropped. In 2005, he released Creekwater, which caught the attention of Columbia Records. During this time, he made a living as a fisherman, skateboarder and artist, gaining experience and forming opinions that seeped through into his lyrics. He began travelling the States, performing wherever he could and honing his rap skills. Yelawolf's passion for rap music grew from his struggles with his rocky home life when he was young. Yelawolf ended up being eliminated from the competition, but he went on to release his own mix tapes independently and was eventually signed to Columbia Records. At the time, Yelawolf was a visual artist, creating mural art by contract, but he wanted to break in to the music industry. The winner would be signed to Elliott's music label.

In 2005, Yelawolf participated in The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott, a reality TV show where 13 aspiring musical performers followed Missy Elliott on tour and competed in various challenges while learning the ins and outs of the music business.
The tour is planned to end with four big performances at various locations in the UK: the Electric Brixton in London, the O2 Academy Birmingham, the Manchester Academy and the O2 ABC in Glasgow. After making a trip up to Toronto, Canada, it's back to Europe to play in Paris, Zurich and Berlin, as well as Stockholm, Oslo, Hamburg. Yelawolf will then cross the pond to play all over the U.S., from Denver and Chicago to Nashville and New Orleans. Yelawolf tickets are available for his worldwide tour, which kicks with shows in various European cities, including Malmo, Corsept and Moscow, among others. Maintaining his strong Southern roots, Yelawolf brings his unique blend of hard-hitting hip hop, Southern rock and bluegrass to the masses.
